The Cutest Breakfast Ever

I went to breakfast at Fred 62 in Silverlake while I was in LA last weekend, and this breakfast was so yummy. Eggs in a hole, but with the cut out piece of bread served on the plate. Who says they don't eats carbs in Los Angeles? Speaking of healthier options, you are able to get turkey bacon and chicken breakfast sausage as an alternative to fattier breakfast meats pretty much everywhere...I just love that.

Wrapper's Delight

Furoshiki is a Japanese traditional wrapping cloth, which can be used over and over, to carry and wrap different items. Forget those reusable shopping bags, just carry this piece of cloth. Check out this demo to see a few of the different carry-all bags that you can fold/tie/make. This chart (above) was created by Japan's Ministry of the Environment, which promoted the use of furoshiki, because of its eco-friendliness. Get you wrap-style skills on.

The Perfect Shorts

I'm a little behind on this--New York Fashion Week ended over a week ago and London Fashion Week is well underway--but I was catching up on the shows last night on my iPhone, and Jenni Kayne's collection took my breath away. She showed lots of shorts--baggy, short, high-waisted-- which I love, but these in particular caught my eye. I love the bag in them, the fabric, the color. Plus, I love that she showed black with navy blue, which is one of my favorite color combos...and which for some reason people think of as a fashion no-no. I love the combination. I actually have a favorite Marc by Marc Jacobs bow-tie blouse that's black and navy. Time to bring that out again...

Please Jill Stuart Don't Hurt 'Em

One of my personal favorite Spring '09 shows so far has been Jill Stuart. The collection–soft, light, sheer, and layered in grays, muted mauves, and neutrals–had a dancer-style sensibility outside of the dance studio. I loved the asymmetrical looks, exposed shoulders and oversize necklaces. I was even drawn to the handkerchief hems here (which I normally don't like) paired with leggings and tulle legwarmers worn under ankle-strap heels. But my favorite look of all was the Hammer-style harem pants with the loose long oversized cardigan. I want those pants. To me, this Jill Stuart collection showed just lovely

It's Fashion Week!

Spring 2009 Fashion Week kicked off last Friday, and I'm doing my usual online oohing and ahhing...although this time around is even better, since Style.com launched a new iPhone application that allows you to view shows as they happen in a slideshow on your phone. I love the spring shows; maybe it's because I live in Hawaii and the fall shows always seem just a little inaccessible, given the climate here, or maybe I just like spring better. Trovata, one of my favorites, was one of the earlier shows, and I'm eating it up. Born out of Southern California, Trovata has a beachy, nautical, surfer-y thing going on, which isn't my normal style...but I love it anyway. This romper is too cute. I love the Nantucket-style sailor's knot bracelet pattern worked into a detail going down the front, not to mention the Keds-style shoes sans laces. They bring back memories of 5th and 6th grade for me.

Easy Now, No Need Fi Go Down

You know that Target commercial where the two girls are sharing a room and they each design their side of the room while dance battling? You know that song that they are dancing to? It's Enur featuring Natasja "Calabria." It's pretty darn infectious. Enur's album Raggatronic is out of September 9.

Castles In The Sky

Checked out Valerie Joseph's fashion show at Ala Moana Centerstage on Labor Day. The theme was "90210" in honor of the new 90210 on the CW which is premiering tonight. It was fun and flirty, just like Valerie. While the fashion show was going on, two little ones in front of us starting going off–dancing like there was no tomorrow. Kids like trance music
