Return of the M.A.C

I really do love M.A.C lipsticks and lip glosses. Fun, intense color (Pink Poodle! Russian Red!) and tried-and-true formulas make M.A.C a go-to for lips. And right now, M.A.C is (still) featuring their Fafi collaboration line. French graffiti artist Fafi created the coolest images of sexy, strong and uniquely stylish girls for the packaging. Totally covetable and collectable. And the colors are ooh la la–lots of pearls and frosts. I love High Top (a greyish-purple sparkly glaze lipstick) and Fun 'N' Sexy (a pinky-bluish glaze lipstick). M.A.C x Fafi is available in stores until it sells out, so get it now!

They're Baaack...

I'm loving the trend of 90's supermodels as the faces of some of the new fashion ad campaigns for Spring '08. Claudia Schiffer for Ferragamo, Christy Turlington for Escada, and the Louis Vuitton campaign featuring Stephanie Seymour, Eva Herzigova and Naomi Campbell--the campaigns are all gorgeous. And for those of us who came of our fashion age in the 90's ("Freedom 90" by George Michael, anyone?), seeing these faces again is familiar and somehow comforting, like seeing an old friend (OK, I clearly spent too much time studying fashion magazines as a kid, but whatever).

A Bargain So Big, I Had To Blog About It

So I moved into a new place, and I need stuff. One of the things I need is stuff for my kitchen, since I love to cook. I've been shopping around, trying to find the best deals--from Wal-Mart to Executive Chef, every price point is out there. And kitchenware can be pretty pricey, especially if you want quality. Today, I scored. It happened at Macy's. I got the following: a 5-quart saute pan, a 14-inch non-stick skillet, a wine opener, a cutting  board, a Microplane, a toaster, spice containers, a colander, a spatula...what am I forgetting? Look at the photo to see all of my loot! And guess how much it all cost me? $100! Can you stand it? I had a Macy's Star Reward, which took 15% off the total, plus the toaster, Microplane, saute pan, and spice containers were marked down an additional 40% from their ALREADY marked down prices (which at about 30%, means I saved 70% when all was said and done). Macy's is the place for kitchenware. Seriously. Oh, and they also carry the awesome Martha Stewart for Macy's line (the saute pan was MS--originally $60, I got it for $13.19!!) I'm going back regularly and looking for that 40% off red sign.

P.S. I know what I forgot! The Martha Stewart flour sifter! Yes!

Throw Them 'Bows

I'm catching up on the Fall 2008 shows online and finally saw the United Bamboo show. (Super big smile!) One of my all-time favorites, United Bamboo continues to create classic architectural pieces with a heightened attention to detail, cut, construction and shape. Add to all of this a sense of fun and playfulness, as seen this season in the repetition of bows. Check out that black v-neck dress. Lovely.

I'll Bumble 4 Ya

Richie at Chop gives me great haircuts, so I really don't have to think too much about my hair. I don't own a blow dryer, flat iron or curling iron. But that doesn't mean that I don't style my hair. I can't live without Bumble and bumble styling products. My favorites are Surf Spray, Grooming Creme and Styling Creme. Whether I slick back my bangs back tight, go big-messy, wear multiple ponytails, comb down plain straight or make a loose low bun, I need these products (and a comb). I'm excited to add more Bumble and bumble to my arsenal, like Prep and Spray de Mode

Supa Star

Three hours. Thirteen fights. To Hell and Back. Congratulations to Kala Kolohe Hose who defeated Phil Baroni in the 5th round. He's the new Icon Sport World Middleweight Champion. The belt trend for Spring is trending to thinner, skinnier belts, but I don't think Kala cares–his Icon Sport belt is friggin' huge. Other winners yesterday included Ross Ebanaz (9 seconds in the 1st round, whoa), Koa Ramos, Sadhu Bott and Jeremy Williams. If you're into MMA, listen to Fighters Club Radio with hosts Mark Kurano and Patrick Freitas on AM 1500 every Monday 9:00-10:00 am. If you call in, guess what? I'll be answering the phone!

Dance Like There's No Next Thursday

Kaba Modern alert! If you watch America's Best Dance Crew on MTV, you know Kaba Modern. Because they are the best group on the show and they are going to win. And next Thursday, one of the girls in Kaba Modern (far right) is wearing an In4mation Spring 08 top! And surprise, check out who the stylist is...Kara Saun (Project Runway season 1).

Just a Friendly Game of Baseball

Last night, went to the UH vs. UAB (Alabama at Birmingham) baseball game. They won 3-1! Best name on the field goes to their DH, Digger Towe. I was happy to be wearing my Jordans. I've officially put all my Dunks on hiatus. But the highlight of the night at the Les, was the "Superfan." He looks a little tired, but that's only because he singlehandedly got the stadium doing the wave. This guy almost crossed the line and became the "Drunk Guy," but he didn't. "Superfan" got the crowd going, had a good time and the Bows got the win. I wish more people supported UH Baseball. After the game, checked out the Secret Society...

Ween There, Done That

In4mation's Spring '08 women's line is in stores now! This seersucker dress is my favorite. But there is so much more––cute skirts, jackets and tops, too! Designer Elska Sandor (of Rookie fame) has created a line that's wearable and much more than you would expect from a streetwear brand. Check out the button details on jersey tops and the full zipper on the pencil skirt. I rocked the seersucker dress at the Ween show at Pipeline. And yes, I stayed for Ween's entire set, all 3 1/2 hours of it. They played for 3 1/2 hours!

Local Brand Fighting Eel is at Nordstrom!

So unless you live under a rock, you know that the new Nordstrom store at Ala Moana Center opened last weekend. And if you're really good, you've already been there. And if you're really worth you're shopping salt, you've already spent money there. Besides great makeup brands, miles of shoes, and a broad range of designer brands (you can easily get a $40 dress or a $400 dress, and any in between), you can find pieces from local designers Fighting Eel. You go, girls! Way to represent!

Protect Ya Neck-lace

I don't wear a lot of jewelry. I do have a few go-to rings, giant hoop earrings and super-long dangly earrings that I wear. But other than that, nada. And rarely do I look at necklaces. So it was almost strange when I saw this rainbow Ruebelle necklace and thought, "I want this." Add it to my Spring 08 wishlist.

Fashionista's + Alterna = The Ultimate Girls' Night Out

Fashionista's Market is the best sample sale/party/spa/hair and makeup studio ever. The Ultimate Girls' Night Out was packed! Look for pictures in the May/June issue. Thanks Alterna for the limited edition TEN Shampoo and Conditioner made with VOSS Artesian Water from Norway. This water comes from an aquifer that is protected from pollutants by layers of rock and ice. It's super-duper pure. I'm a fan of Alterna products, so I'm looking forward to trying it out.

Bargain Boot$

On Sunday I went to the "The Women's Closet" sale event at the O Lounge. I love bargains. Boots. $10. Pineapple County. Sweet.
