Oahu Dines, the annual benefit for Life Foundation, is tomorrow, Wednesday, March 4. All you have to do is eat out! Eat at any restaurants on the list, and a portion of your bill will be donated to Life Foundation. Life Foundation is a Hawaii-based non-profit organization that has been working to stop the spread of HIV and to assist people in Hawaii living with HIV and AIDS since 1983. Some of the programs that Life Foundation supports include AIDS case management, school based AIDS education, sterile needle exchange, peer support, treatment education and HIV prevention outreach. By eating out tomorrow, you'll be supporting Life Foundation. My gameplan: Boots & Kimo's pancakes for breakfast, acai bowl at The Wedding Cafe for lunch, and a combo plate at Los Chaparros for dinner.

This full-length feature from Guam was written, produced and directed by first-timers, Don and Kel Muña. It was one of my favorite films of HIFF '08.

Fifi Lapin is the coolest bunny in the world. (Thanks to Rona of Fighting Eel who introduced me to Fifi back in the day!) She has the best style, she loves clothes, she travels the world, and she has a new collaboration with LeSportsac (Artist in Residence) that I just love! The best is this Snack Sac. I also love the Lunch Date Sac and the Duffles. Fifi's collection has 3 different prints; this one is called "Dress Up." Fifi, can I pay in carrots?

We started a new tradition this year. The day before Valentine's Day is officially Tequila Day. And the official tequila of choice is Corzo. To really celebrate Tequila Day proper like, we had a 5-course meal paired with various tequila mixed drinks at the Beachhouse at the Moana Surfrider. (Um, this girl had to get schooled quick. I only knew tequila in the form of shot glass with salt and lime.) The dishes were specially prepared using tequila as well (thanks Chef Rodney Uyehara)! Think braised veal over a pork and beans mash paired with an orange-lime-pepper-spicy tequila cocktail. Kaboom! And totally loved the crab, hamachi, and prawn "shots." Oh, and the chocolate lumpia with tequila soaked strawberries. And, the delicious mango puree tequila-tini. Manny Hinojosa, a world-famous mixologist (above, with our super-duper hostess Christa) schooled us on the history of tequila, its place in the culture of Mexico, how it is made, different types, what the hell agave (a.k.a. maguey) is, etc. Whatever, those Corzo bottles are gorgeous! Corzo Silver tequila with basil, lemon and soda = my favorite kaboom of the night. I love February 13, Tequila Day!

I think I might have discovered the best ice cream ever this winter. Chunks of caramel covered pear and pieces of toasted pecans in a pear flavored base ice cream. (Note: to like this one, you really have to like pears.) With the signature Haagen-Dazs rich and creamy texture, you'll literally put the spoon to your mouth and say, "holy shit." It's that good. Caramelized Pear & Toasted Pecan is a limited edition flavor released around the holiday season. I found it at Foodland Beretania. They might have a few left.

On Friday, Rock on Mars, a retrospective exhibition of the work of Stephen Sprouse, opened at Deitch Project's Wooster Street gallery in NYC (January 9 - February 28, 2009). Oh, I wish I could be there. (View some of the installation here.) Stephen Sprouse, who passed away in 2004, epitomized 1980s downtown New York with his street inspired fashion designs that fused punk, graffiti, hip-hop, and art. This exhibit features polaroids, illustrations, paintings, video works, furniture designs, and 50 of his most influential fashion looks. Marc Jacobs, who collaborated with Sprouse in 2001 for Louis Vuitton, has created a new limited edition Louis Vuitton x Stephen Sprouse collection available now. I die.

The best thing about Kauai (besides Release Friday nights at The Point at the Sheraton Poipu) is Deli & Bread Connection at Kukui Grove Shopping Center. My order: T.O.P.S.S. sandwich and a cup of clam chowder. T.O.P.S.S. stands for turkey, olives, peppers, sprouts, and swiss cheese. It's friggin' delicious. The bread is fresh-baked onsite, and you can even take home a few of their sourdough loaves, sweet bread, or a bag of poi rolls if you have room in your carry-on. The Lobsta' Roll is a signature, and they also have many more original and classic sandwiches and subs to choose from. Speaking of classics, you can't go wrong with the Grilled Cheese or B.L.T. Note: if you don't need to take your order to go (to make your Go! Airlines flight on time), then eat in and get the clam chowder in the bread bowl. Yum and done. Yes, Mana Bu's has the most thoughtful and delicious musubis I have ever eaten in my life. I really love the heavier ones like 10 Grains-Hijiki and Kombu. But what I love even more are the side dishes. The other day, I got 4 sides (Grandma's Hijiki, French Beans with Sesame, Okinawan Potato with Corn, Peas and Macadamia Nuts and Shiso Squash) and just 1 musubi.

Great denim selection and racks of trend items like cropped jackets and vests. I saw so many things that I wanted to buy...and it's cheap (most items are under $50)! One of my favorite fashion girls in Hawaii is Krista Alvarez of Blue Hawaii Surf. She has a such a sweet, easygoing personality and her style sensibility is totally on point–uniquely individual yet fashion-forward, a bit of street-meets-runway, totally wearable and chic. Plus, she's stunningly beautiful. The other night, I saw her in these drop-crotch harem-style pants from Triple 5 Soul, and literally drooled. She looked fabulous, and that wasn't even her outfit for the night (she later changed into a black fringed LBD). I called her the next day, found out that she brought the pants into Blue Hawaii Surf, and put a pair on hold. I'm buying them tomorrow.

Last year, I was so fortunate to be in San Francisco for the Vivienne Westwood retrospective at the de Young Museum. Now, I have to figure out how to get back to San Francisco to see the Yves Saint Laurent exhibit at the de Young. (Maybe SFIAFF 2009?!) The exhibit looks at YSL's designs and his inspirations drawn from art, theatre, history, literature, and nature. 130 accessorized garments and sketches (from the Foundation Pierre Bergé-Yves Saint Laurent), along with photos and videos, will give amazing insight into his work and creative process.

To celebrate Diesel's 30th anniversary, select stores sold $50 limited-edition Matic jeans for one day only (today). I had no idea this was even happening until I spotted Dan Weaver sitting on the sidewalk outside of the Diesel Waikiki store at 9:30 AM today. I immediately called him and asked him why the hell he was sitting on the sidewalk. He explained to me the situation of the super special Dirty Thirty jeans, but sadly (so sadly, because I friggin' love Diesel!), I couldn't get in line with him. Too much HIFF stuff to do. (P.S. go to HIFF!). I wished him a happy fashion adventure, hung up, and went on my way. At 1:00 PM, I finally had a free moment, and decided to call both Diesel stores (Ala Moana Center and Waikiki) to see if they were sold out, and found out that Waikiki still had some jeans remaining. I headed over and stood in line; there were about 10 people in front of me when I got there. The store was only letting one person in at a time to try on the jeans and purchase. I finally got up to the front, and there were only about five pairs left. And there was one in my size. Oh my goodness. I got a pair! Hooray! Thanks Dan Weaver! (And a special shout out to Henry.)

Back in the day, I read a little blurb about David in Jane Magazine (RIP), sent him a check, and he sent me a copy of Slow Jams, his self-published graphic novel, with a handwritten inscription, "I hope you enjoy my book." And I did. It was bananas. I like bananas. The film is showing on October 13 at 9:00 PM and October 15 at 7:00 PM at Regal Dole Cannery. David will be in town doing Q&A after both screenings. See it.

I went to breakfast at Fred 62 in Silverlake while I was in LA last weekend, and this breakfast was so yummy. Eggs in a hole, but with the cut out piece of bread served on the plate. Who says they don't eats carbs in Los Angeles? Speaking of healthier options, you are able to get turkey bacon and chicken breakfast sausage as an alternative to fattier breakfast meats pretty much everywhere...I just love that.

Furoshiki is a Japanese traditional wrapping cloth, which can be used over and over, to carry and wrap different items. Forget those reusable shopping bags, just carry this piece of cloth. I'm a little behind on this--New York Fashion Week ended over a week ago and London Fashion Week is well underway--but I was catching up on the shows last night on my iPhone, and Jenni Kayne's collection took my breath away. She showed lots of shorts--baggy, short, high-waisted-- which I love, but these in particular caught my eye. I love the bag in them, the fabric, the color. Plus, I love that she showed black with navy blue, which is one of my favorite color combos...and which for some reason people think of as a fashion no-no. I love the combination. I actually have a favorite Marc by Marc Jacobs bow-tie blouse that's black and navy. Time to bring that out again...
